Just back from meeting alfoo and josh. First met Alfoo at Holland V and just as we were about to get a drink josh calls to pick us up. We drive to josh's place and we sit and we know we've reached home. Wow. You know you're in all comfort and peace when you're with excellent company. Its great to be back and even greater to be with alfoo and josh. hearing all his stories about michelle and how they met and how things took shape and what he said and what she said were things i cant reproduce and do justice at the same time. Josh as well as Michelle are truly blessed and divinely placed in each other's hands. I wish you two all the best!

Alfoo's going to club med bintan. Beach ball in tow. I have to look for a job! whoopee! i'm getting a bit more excited about it now. I think i know what i'm looking for and i'm curious to know how skilled (or not) i am at interviews...haha...

Hearty Wedding Congratulations!!

Perth is the name of the place and the occasion is the wedding of Singapore's foremost mergers & acquisition Investment banker . I was quite shocked and my imagination ran wild - was this wedding going to be a merger of some sort for Josh and his lady or was it an outright acquisition. I pinched myself and thought it did not matter how it came about , what mattered most was that Josh was happy and he has taken the lead by committing himself to a lifetime partner (Alfoo, Keene and Caleb what are you waiting for ???) .

I am happy for you and whilst I must confess that I am a novice in this area of life - I pass on the advice my Dad gave a cousin when he was about to get married - He told him to be his wife's best friend and biggest fan and he told him never to forget the nine golden words of marriage "I love you", "You are beautiful" and "please forgive me". And of course to always remember that a man who wants to have a happy marriage should learn to keep his mouth shut and cheque book open. Wishing you a glorious and happy married life !!!

We had a special award ceremony on Wednesday for those who went to cover the tsunami disaster, and I couldn't help but reflect on the significance of an event as unprecedented as this.

The photo desk showed a collection of pics, perhaps only the tip of the iceberg, as many pics, of mangled and decayed bodies, were unfit for publication.

The chief editor said it'll probably be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as such a massive disaster would not be repeated.

That set off fresh thoughts in me, as I was so busy that I did not have time to think/feel for the thousands that perished.

I spoke to a photographer who went to Phuket and Medan, and he told me of the stench that came from the corpses, and of having to shoot badly decayed bodies and the scenes of suffering he witnessed.

Some choose to ask, "Why, God, why?'' and question the benevolence of the Almighty, while others remain dumbfounded.

One colleague wrote that she had lost confidence in the omnipotence of God, as by choosing to honour man's freewill and uphold His natural laws, tsunamis and Hitlers are allowed to wreck havoc, and make the world seem godless.

Another colleague, a devout Christian, told me that US preachers have postulated the possibility that these killer waves are God's way of punishing those who have long stood against the advance of his gospel- the staunch Muslim enclave in Aceh, the Tamil Tiger fanatics in Sri Lanka, and the strong Muslim/Buddhist region in Thailand.

Does it matter?
So what?
Will knowing the answer, knowing God's mind and intention alleviate the suffering or save any souls?

I believe the extent of eternal suffering in the afterlife would be worse than experiencing a thousand tsunamis put together, and if it takes a tsunami to save tens of thousands from Hellfire, then I believe a loving God will allow it to happen.

So we must make full use of this opportunity.

The collapse of the USSR, the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, the end of Communism in Eastern Europe, the dethroning of Saddam - these are all signs pointing to the coming reign of Christ.

But will the unsaved multitudes believe?
Will mere words and sound reasoning be adequate to convince?

Lord, help your children to pray, to go, to love.

And equip us with Your Spirit, for unless You abide in us, and us in you, we can do nothing.

i guess 50 doesnt always follow 49. And you'd probably understand what i'm talking about, but your forgiven if you're a nomadic villager or intensely buried in your textbooks.

The fracas that followed the Old Trafford win, controversial as it is, could well have been avoided but it just didnt seem right to shake hands and walk away. And so, with some of the greatest bullies,thugs and spoilt children ever to grace English football, a classictie up derogated to a bust up in the tunnel and the media could not have asked for more. And the whole affair about the soup shower onFergie, and I have to quote the independent on thisone, "...'Soupgate' is laughable and the running gag yesterday, referring to Arsenal's centre-half and United's left-back, was whether the soup was Campbell's or Heinze's", is aptly put, laughable.

I particularly enjoyed Rooney's spectator status throughout the wholematch, emerging to take centre stage only to get involved physically whenever there's an argument, even if it means literally shoving a disoriented Henry to the side. gosh been long since i posted...will do better next time! i will be off to london soon...a couple of days in fact. i guess its a new year and a renewed start. i find myself in spots at time...and all you want to do is stare up to the heavens and say 'help me God. i need to make it through today'....the coming year i feel is going to be phenemonal but God's not going to let us go through it without making his presence felt. Its pretty easy to feel all psyched up now and shove my way through the jungle of life but i have a feeling God wants to have a hand in it. And im learning to let go. And letting go as passive as it sounds is in fact an extremely active act. You've got to go out of your way to let Him take charge...do u-turns on your own preconceived notions and thats never easy....

Why is a hardcore Liverpool fan who's Christian found in a Man U establishment named Devils Bar?

Well that was on my mind as I went on assignment last Sat, hoping to get the scoop on a possible blackout of live premier league telecasts in Singapore due to a dispute bet the local cable provider and ESPN, which has the rights.

Blackout there wasn't, but Blackburn there was against the Red Devils- and boy was I jumping for joy inside when Paul Dickov gave Blackburn the lead!

Well, Blackburn's luck prob left as I departed with half an hr to go, and it was no surprise when I entered the newsroom to find all the Man U fans celebrating Alan Smith's last-gasp equaliser. *sigh*.

At least that match gave me plenty to be excited about unlike Pool's game against Bolton, which promised so much (given the debut of the Spanish armada at Pool), but almost bored me to sleep!
Now that Newcastle's Sir Bobby Robson is gone, Benitez will be shown the same door if he doesn't get his team's act together ASAP!

last day of attachement and a God blessed one at that. Its been a great month full of valuable lessons and diverse viewpoints. Will miss the mission surely and my bosses and colleagues but i do hope to seriously consider working for the mission one day.

a month of chilling out follows...alfoo i've got your keychain and josh your t-shirts. will let you know when i get back and we'll meet up.

hope alls well...u know i really like the jukebox, but because we dont tend to stay on the same page for a long enough time, the song always interrupts. quite frustrating!

Hey guys whats up ? Another week is drawing to an end and I am pleased that my revision for my re-sit has been slightly more consistent ...

I have a lot to be grateful for this week ... My sister got AAB in her A-levels examinations and so she is gonna go to King's College to study law. My Dad was so delighted and seeing his reaction to her success reaffirmed the fact that the only thing that brings him much joy is the success of his kids . This re-ignited the passion in me to come out with a first next summer - WATCH OUT LSE - THIS IS NOT EMPTY TALK - THIS IS A MAN WITH A MISSION . And on the theme of achieving the extra ordinary when others doubt you - I leave you with this two wonderful quotes that helps to sustain my positive attitude

gosh i know its been long...but alfoo take heart the nazarites are still very much alive and kicking though we maybe kicking in various directions. keene, folarion and myself met today at school and we had a very good talk with each other...things that matter to us...the doubts the fears the anxieties and the knowledge and agreement that our God is an awesome God who is more than capable of bringing us through. the verse i was trying to point to in the end was Romans 5: 3-5

3...but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

I'm in the theme of hope cos OCF caught shawshank redemption yesterday nite and the story is about how hope ultimately makes us sane men if we just hold on. Our trials and tribulations when put in the big picture will mean and matter positively to us sooner in life and focusing on it rite now is forgetting the bigger purpose of God. Our hope rests on the faith that our God loves us and wants to see us prosper and see the enlargement of his kingdom and we can all testify to that. I will be beginning the purpose driven life soon so discussions can flow and we can all learn whether we've already done it or reading it again.

Alfoo: ha...great to see your first week of work has been fruitful! congratulations dude...we get a day off for national day as well but i have to attend something at westminister abbey as part of some commonwealth celebrations thing. and yup keene is going to get the keychain for you since i wont be able to go to school during the week. thanks keene!

1st Week

Yeah!!! Finally finished my first week at work- was rewarded with a long weekend in exchange for National Day duty.

Am grateful for the positive attitude that the Lord has given me cos I was preparing for the worst. Rapport with the rest of the desk is slowly building up- thank God all of them remember me from the past internship even though it was 2 yrs back! What a contrast to the time I was at back at Moneydesk a year after my internship, and no one seemed to recall my face...

Will most prob specialise in school sports for the time being as no one at the desk is doing that, and adopt my act-blur, act-dumb, pls-teach-me kinda attitude.

So if u're ard in the Bradell area, just drop me a line or gimme a call and we can meet up and i might even give u a short tour of the newsroom... hehe

ok, due to repeated taunts from my sis that i do nothing but eat, sleep & watch tv all-day- IT'S TIME for another entry.

Actually, the past week was spent reflecting on the past 3 yrs of college life, and contemplating abt the future. Scenes from my experiences just keep playing in my mind like I'm watching a documentary that would go on and on...

It seemed not to long ago that I left for London on 29th Sept 2001 on a journey of self-discovery- finding out more of my strengths & weaknesses, of learning more abt my Heavenly Father- how to relate to Him more intimately, and from there to love those around me with His love.

Many times, I was on the brink of throwing in the towel, esp when my old sinful nature returns to haunt me, God seems distant, and no one seems to understand or give a damn. Sometimes, I get horrified and even disgusted when I reflect upon my lack of Christ-like character, and wonder how it's going to be possible to continue living for Him for even 1 more moment.

Thankfully, the simple revelation that Jesus is alive, and because He lives I can face tomorrow, has kept me fighting the next battle, and bouncing back from the feeling of utter uselessness.

I am reminded of something a dear brother shared with me- that the most important decision we all have to make in life is not who to marry, what career path to embark on, or what car or house to buy, but the decision to accept Jesus as our personal saviour and to live for Him.

That decision gives me the impetus and the most secure foundation I need to make all other decisions in life. For that I am eternally grateful.

wow...i cant believe we have our virtual cell all done and ready. Thats amazing guys and a big thank you to alfoo who has done all the hard work. I have little to share with you today other than the fact that i am two days from leaving sweet home alabama (that is old street) and moving to manor house. I start making coffee fulltime for mike this tuesday and a month later i am parasailing across langkawi into KL and shuttling to Singapore (ok thats a joke...the woes of flying cheaply).
